Oh my gosh! The moment has finally arrived and you as mom and dad may be excited, happy, sad. It’s a very emotional time. Of course, your senior is READY! High school senior photography captures the personalities and milestones of your graduating student. Here are some tips and ideas to fully enhance your senior’s experience:

1. Planning the Session

  - Consultation: Discuss your student's interests, hobbies, and style to personalize the shoot.

  - Location: Choose meaningful locations, like schools, parks, or urban areas that reflect your student's personality.

2. Wardrobe Choices

  - Outfits: I encourage a mix of casual and formal outfits. Incorporate personal touches like sports uniforms or musical instruments. I also bring my pop-up tent when we go to locations for your senior to easily change outfits in.

  - Colors: Opt for colors that complement the season and the location.

3. Posing and Expressions: I use a combination of the following:

-I ask your senior if they have any suggestions they have seen. I have found most seniors have done their research and have ideas in mind already.

  - Natural Poses: Capture candid moments, encouraging the senior to relax and be themselves.

  4. Incorporating Props

  - Personal Items: Include items that represent achievements, such as awards, yearbooks, or favorite books.

  - Activities: If the senior is involved in sports or arts, I encourage you to showcase these through props or attire.

 5. Lighting and Timing

  - Golden Hour: Schedule shoots during the golden hour (just after sunrise or before sunset) for flattering natural light. This is the most popular time to photograph. Just keep in mind you may run into a lot of people doing the same thing at the same time. Mostly you want to avoid harsh light on the face or body.

6. Collaborate with Other Seniors

  - Group Sessions- Large friend groups since kindergarten are very important to one another and are not uncommon to want a session together. They can make for fun and dynamic photos.

 7. Safety and Comfort

  - Comfort Level: Your seniors comfort level with me is the most important part of my job. You will often see me cracking jokes with your senior as this usually opens them up to be more themselves and really showcase their true personality.

Senior photography is not just about capturing a moment; it’s about telling a story. By focusing on your senior’s personality and achievements, you will have beautiful images that you will cherish for years to come.
